Little Black Dress Exchange Letter
May. 17th, 2020 03:48 pmThanks so much for writing for me, and for taking a look at my letter! I'm requesting fic for all fandoms. DNWs, likes and prompts are all below. All prompts are just suggestions and should be taken as such, including suggestions of characters for ships - let your imagination run wild!
I have more ideas/prompts for some canons/characters than others, but I would be genuinely excited to get anything in this letter, regardless of whether I've written a long or short section on it.

Request 1: Star Wars - All Media Types & The Clone Wars
Ahsoka Tano (AMT & TCW)
Category: F/F
Opt-ins: F/M Ahsoka/Maul; original characters; AUs; droid ships; crossovers within the Star Wars Universe
Character-specific DNWs:
- Legends canon
- Video games canon
- Minor (under-18)/adult ships (but happy for you to age Clone Wars-era Ahsoka up, or go AU so she can meet characters as an adult).
Possible dynamics:
- Padawan bonding: is Ahsoka the more experienced Padawan helping someone learn the ropes, or vice-versa? Does she clash with another Padawan over the best way to achieve something? Training, sparring together, all of it could lend itself to some fun times. I love seeing bonding through shared fraught circumstances (mission gone wrong? Trapped in an inhospitable environment? Pinned down by Separatist forces? Having to scramble to save others?) I loved the episodes where she bonded with Barriss, for example.
- Missing scenes: the gap between Ahsoka leaving the Jedi and coming back, or between the end of Clone Wars and her reappearance in Rebels, leaves a lot of room to work. Who could she meet in that time? The GFFA is a big place. Does Ahsoka struggle to stay undercover while trying to protect people? Does someone come to her aid when she needs it, proving that she's not as alone as she thinks? Perhaps she meets people who aren't on her side, but slowly they grow closer, and there's some reluctant bonding and shared experience - or not, and it's tension-filled hatesex! I really liked the episodes with Trace and Rafa in Clone Wars, as an example, or her relationship with Bo-Katan at the end of Clone Wars. Some OCs would be great here, or other characters in GFFA - does she run into a young Cara Dune? Or does she have to work alongside Ventress again? How about one of the female Inquisitors? I'm open to anything!
- Post-Rebels: Ahsoka during the OT - what is she doing? Is she on some dangerous mission with somebody? Perhaps something with the Rebels characters (Ahsoka/Hera? Ahsoka/Sabine?). Or go after ROTJ, what is Ahsoka doing in the aftermath? Does she meet a female Force-user who needs some guidance? Does she meet someone during a peacekeeping effort?
Leia Organa (AMT)
Category: F/F
Opt-ins: original characters; AUs; mention of past Han/Leia; droid ships
Character-specific DNWs:
- Legends canon
- Video games canon
- Minor (under-18)/adult ships
Possible dynamics:
- Politicking: either pre-OT during Leia's time in the Senate, or post-OT as she tries to build the New Republic. I love Leia as a politician, easily able to talk to people, to press on their strengths and weaknesses, savvy and compassionate but willing to push for what she needs and wants. Any complex political relationship that has/develops romantic and/or sexual tension. Does she have an uneasy alliance with Qi'ra? Does she ever have to work with someone like Ursa Wren or Bo-Katan?
- Building a Resistance: who does Leia trust to bring in to the Resistance? Who does she trust and turn to, after losing so much? Mutual trust and respect, working together to build something new. Someone like Amilyn Holdo could be a good option.
- AU: if Rogue One survived the Scarif mission, perhaps Leia and Jyn make a connection. If Leia is the one who grew up on Tattooine, would she meet some other scrappy farmgirl? Does she go dark (or pretend to, in order to work undercover) and develop a complicated relationship with some Imperial officer?
Cara Dune
Category: F/F
Opt-ins: original characters; AUs; crossovers with other Star Wars canons; droid ships
Character-specific DNWs:
- Legends canon
- Video games canon
- Minor (under-18)/adult ships
Possible dynamics:
- Shocktrooping and peacekeeping: Cara and another female shock trooper go on dangerous missions, get one another out of trouble, save one another's lives. I love Cara being competent and brave and maybe, at this point, not quite so jaded. Was she an idealist, once upon a time? After the war, she became disillusioned with peacekeeping - is there anyone she left behind when she left, or did someone leave with her? She was from Alderaan - does she ever meet Leia? Do they get on, or are they moving in different directions?
- Mercenary life: does she take a job for someone? Does she find herself oddly bonding with one of her marks? Does she ever join up with bounty hunters (AU Ventress? Fennec Shand?) or with any of the criminal underworld (Qi'ra?)
- Post-Mandalorian: Cara and the Armorer meet again! Or does she end up reluctantly involved with Leia's fledgling Resistance? Cara as an older, wiser, but no less badass fighter who can bring some underground knowledge and firepower to the cause.
Request 3: The Lord of the Rings - Tolkien
Éowyn
Category: F/F
Opt-ins: original characters; AUs; mentions of past/potential Éowyn/Faramir
Character-specific DNWs:
- Tragic endings - bittersweet is absolutely fine, but I want Éowyn to have some kind of hope and belonging and to feel strong and resilient.
Possible dynamics:
- Horse girl: I've always loved Rohan and their absolute dedication and commitment to their horses. Éowyn as a strong-willed, accomplished rider who adores her horses and rides just as well as her brother is catnip to me, and she can't possibly be the only woman in Rohan who is like this. Does she have an early romance as a young woman, riding out across the country? Does she have a romance with a stablegirl? Adventures in Rohan, galloping across endless plains, growing up, a little taste of the freedom that Éowyn longs for in canon.
- Gardens: Éowyn slowly recovering from her despair, and becoming a leader in her own right, learning that she loves helping things to grow, and that this doesn't mean she has to give up her sword. Does she stay in Rohan or go to Ithilien, or roam elsewhere? Does she go out with others to hunt down remaining orcs, or patrol the borders of reclaimed Ithilien, or help with the rebuilding of Isengard? Maybe she bonds with an Elf from Mirkwood, or another woman from Rohan who has taken inspiration from her, or a young Gondorian woman who wants to make a difference.
- AUs: Sauron wins, and Éowyn is part of a desperate group of survivors? Suddenly her skills are valuable and necessary, but her despair is almost overwhelming, and she finds solace with another survivor. Or Éomer dies at Pelennor Fields, and the Rohirrim take Éowyn as their queen - she starts to change things in Rohan, allowing women to take on traditionally male roles. Romance with a guardswoman? A new female Marshal? Or, after the War, Éowyn still finds that she can't settle, and she starts to travel further and further, trying to find some peace - she goes East, and meets a woman from Harad or Rhun, and after initial mistrust they grow closer and Éowyn finds a place helping them in rebuilding after Sauron's fall.
Request 4: Lost (M/F & M/M)
Sayid Jarrah
Category: M/M & M/F
Character-specific DNWs:
- Sayid/Locke
- Sayid/Nadia (I love Nadia, but I think a lot of Sayid's arc was pretty clearly about moving on from her and all the things she represents about his past.)
- Sayid/Ben
Possible dynamics:
- Ultimate badass: I love Sayid for his competence, his skills, his badassery. I would love anything where he uses these to work with somebody else. I always thought he and Kate brought out the best in one another when they were problem-solving a lot of issues in the first season; he's so patient and thoughtful when he and Shannon are working together to decode Rousseau's maps; he's so kind to Danielle and seems to be the only person she trusts for a long time; he and Desmond trapped in a dangerous situation on the freighter and they have to figure shit out (and Sayid needs to fix things); he leads hunting parties, or sets up traps for the others, breaks people's necks with his ankles... just anything where Sayid gets to be the true and total amazing guy that he is, working with someone who he respects and who respects him, leading to romantic tension, makeouts, etc. etc.
- True romantic: he may be the ultimate badass, but Sayid is such a romantic as well. He falls in love easily and deeply, he sees the worth in people that others don't. He figures out nice dates, he can cook, he knows how to wine-and-dine (before they turned out to be mutual assassins, he was going full on romance in The Economist). Give me Sayid being a total romantic dreamboat! Pre-Island, on the Island, post-Island (either Oceanic Six era or in a Sayid Lives AU).
- AUs: Sayid in the DHARMA initiative, where he's not one of the Oceanic Six? Does he develop a relationship with one of the other survivors, or one of the DHARMA people? (Honestly, Sayid/Miles, Sayid/Jin, Sayid/Juliet, Sayid/Sawyer, Sayid/Daniel... literally all of them sound amazing.) Does he get stuck in weird time flashes and keep running into Richard Alpert? Maybe he survives the whole Island ordeal (NO SUBMARINE) and gets to leave - rebuilding his life and recovering and bonding with one of the other survivors, because no one else can understand what they all went through. Maybe someone who dies in canon doesn't die! Does Danielle survive, and she and Sayid bond? And, look, there's time travel in this show, so go for it. Any era is open.
Request 5: Lost (F/F)
Kate Austen
Category: F/F
Opt-ins: AUs; M/F with Sayid; OCs
Character-specific DNWs:
- Kate/Alex (unless time travel or AU, so Alex is an adult.)
- Kate/present-day Eloise
- Kate/Carole Littleton (Claire's mother)
Possible dynamics:
- Island Women: One of the things I always liked most about Kate is how supportive she was of other women on the Island. She was always there for Claire, whether in huge moments like Aaron's birth, or in small moments when she just needed someone on her side. She and Sun had a lovely developing best friendship. One of my low-key favourite episodes is Maternity Leave, where Kate, Claire and Rousseau go on an adventure together. I'd love something like that: an Island adventure with one of the other women, with competent women figuring shit out about this weird place, and also some romance and love. Maybe throw a time travel curveball - Kate doesn't have to be on an adventure with people from her present day, after all!
- On the Run: Kate was on the run from the law for a long time, making her way across America and eventually, somehow, to Australia. I always liked her brief storyline with Cassidy, and I kind of wanted them to Thelma and Louise their way out of trouble. Go with Cassidy herself, or is there another slick con artist for Kate to team up with? Or does she try and make an honest go of it with someone straightforward and honest, and she just can't deal (there's no way Nathan Fillion is the only person she tried that with, right?) I love how complicated Kate is, that she's a fundamentally decent person who still has the capacity to do terrible, deceitful things while on the run. Something that digs into that (and maybe into how her experience on the Island changes her) would be amazing.
- Survivor: one of my favourite things about season six is Kate, and how she is completely Done with any Jack and Sawyer bullshit. She's there to rescue Claire, and reunite her with Aaron, even though it is so personally painful to her. And she does it! But what about afterwards? She's (presumably) broken the law by leaving the state (never mind the country), and now she's not even going to have her son, and possibly be exposed as a liar to the world. How does she rebuild her life, and who helps her do that? Claire seems a good choice here, though she's going to need a hell of a lot of help herself. An AU where Sun survives, or Juliet? An original character? Go wild - I'd love to see post-Island Kate figuring shit out and building a new life for herself.
Sun-Hwa Kwon
Category: F/F
Opt-ins: M/F with Sun/Jin & Sun/Michael; M/M/F with Sun/Jin/Michael; AUs
Character-specific DNWs:
- Jin-bashing (discussion/mentions of his past behaviour are fine, but don't make him the villain)
- Sun/present-day Eloise
- Sun/Alex (unless time travel or AU, so Alex is an adult.)
Possible dynamics:
- Her father's daughter: I love how the show dismantles the image of Sun we were first presented with, when she was meek and passive and afraid, and shows that she's actually smart, pretty ruthless, and able to hold her own. I wish we'd been able to see more of that, or that Sun had been allowed to use her smarts and her ability to out-manipulate people more often (the "I lied" after she knocked Ben out? Savage). So I'd love to see Sun team up with another woman on the Island to sort some shit out, and for Sun to display some of her more ruthless qualities. Sun is a woman who knows what she wants and will try and get it - it would be amazing to see this in a F/F capacity. It doesn't need to be soft and romantic (though I love that too <3) - it would be great to see a more complicated push-pull type of relationship for Sun.
- Oceanic Six: Sun's time as one of the Oceanic Six is really interesting to me. She's one of the most obviously changed by her experience (I love when she storms into her father's office and reveals that she's bought a controlling share in his company), and I'd love to see more of Sun exploring her independence in this time. Grieving her husband, newly a single mother, striking deals with Charles Widmore - I'd love her to team up with somebody who can help her achieve her goals, and who appreciates her, and who Sun can slowly learn to trust, and love.
- AUs: So many possibilities! Does Sun follow through on her plan to flee to America, and therefore never make it to the Island? Does she meet somebody and start to live a new life? Maybe she's not one of the Oceanic Six and ends up in DHARMA - Sun/Juliet? Sun/Charlotte, if Charlotte survives? Maybe she falls in love with one of the DHARMA people and has to navigate keeping this enormous secret about how she actually got there. Maybe she survives the damn submarine and gets to go home - the secrets she shares with Kate or Claire brings them closer and closer together, as the only people who can ever truly understand what happened.
